Varsity Softball beats Lewis Cass 8-1

The Lady Eagles won another game at home against Lewis Cass. The first inning, the Eagles put up 2 runs after a lead off walk by Evie Holz and an RBI double by Jolee Hawkins. Then Madison Archer hits an RBI single to score the 2nd run. The third inning runs were scored with two home runs. After a single by Alivia Shaw and stolen base, Jolee Hawkins came up and hit a line drive over the fence in left center. Her first career home run to drive in 2 RBIs. Karsyn Wiley decided to follow her lead and hit a solo home run behind her.

The next inning Zoey Bragg lead off with a walk and then was able to score after a few passed balls. In the fifth inning, Mya Rennaker entered to hit, and lead off with a double to right center and was then able to score on a passed ball. And to finish it up in the 6th inning, Shaw reached base on an error. Bella Foustnight moved her over on a sacrifice slap. And then after a hard hit ball to the pitcher by Karsyn Wiley, Shaw was able to move to third. On a passed ball with Pearce up to bat, she scored the final run for the Eagles.

Lewis Cass scored their run on a solo home run over the left field fence in the 7th inning.

Karsyn Wiley pitched six innings and had 9 strikeouts and only allowed one hit.

Macie Foustnight finished the game only allowing one run and one hit.

OHTF Golden Eagles Score 99 Points to Defeat Eastbrook & Elwood in Triangular – Johnson, Austin, Westgate, Elzinga, Tippey All Win Multiple Events

The OHTF Golden Eagles earned a hard fought triangular win Tuesday at home against visiting Central Indiana Conference opponents Eastbrook and Elwood.

Fresh off their win at Saturday’s Oak Hill Relays the Golden Eagles were able to rest some of their top scoring athletes and gave a high number of younger athletes opportunities to compete.The Golden Eagles still managed to win 11 events to total 99 Points. Eastbrook finished with 61 points while Elwood scored 7.

On the night 5 different Golden Eagles led the way as multiple event winners.

Senior Tai Johnson earned a pair of wins in both throws taking the Shot Put and Discus. Classmate AJ Austin was the winner in the Long Jump while anchoring the 4×400 Meter Relay to a 1st. Joining him on the relay were Juniors Micah McKinney and Reese Hernandez along with Sophomore Marc Caritos.

Senior Kaleb Westgate had a career night as the Golden Eagle who has spent most of his career battling through injuries anchored the 4×800 Meter Relay to a 1st, won the 800 Meter Dash, and took a strong 2nd in the 1600 Meter Run. Joining Westgate on the 4×8 were classmate Colin Middesworth, Junior Owen Middlesworth, and Sommers. Colin and Owen took 2nd and 3rd repsectively to Westgate in the 800.

Junior Drew Elzinga continued his great start in the hurdles this spring with a pair of wins in the 110 Meter Hurdles and the 300 Meter Hurdles. McKinney was 2nd to Elzinga in the 300s with Sommers taking 3rd.

Sophomore Corban Tippey swept the long distance events as the Golden Eagle won both the 1600 Meter Run and the 3200 Meter Run.

Senior Nate Brower won the Pole Vault with younger Freshman brother Kyle Brower taking 2nd and Junior Maddux Boswell 3rd.

Freshman Jalen Scott won the 100 Meter Dash and anchored the 4×100 Meter Relay to a 2nd place finish. Joining Scott on the relay were Sophomore Josh Morgan along with Juniors Morshown Cotton and Hernandez.

In the throws Senior Ajay Papai in the Discus and Sophomore Thane Jones in the Shot Put took runner up honors to Johnson.

Senior Levi Trexler cleared over 6 feet in the High Jump once again for 2nd overall while Junior Owen Roth posted a runner up finish in the 3200 Meter Run behind Tippey.

OHTF Lady Eagles Score 80 Points to Defeat Eastbrook & Elwood in Triangular – Campbell & Travis Both Win Multiple Events

The OHTF Lady Eagles earned a hard fought triangular win Tuesday at home against visiting Central Indiana Conference opponents Eastbrook and Elwood. The Lady Eagles managed to win 7 events to total 80 Points. Eastbrook finished with 72 points while Elwood scored 15.

Fresh off their win at Saturday’s Oak Hill Relays the Lady Eagles were missing two of their top scoring athletes and gave a high number of younger athletes opportunities to compete.

Junior Ellie Campbell and Biruk Travis led the way as both Lady Eagles were multi event winners. Campbell won the long jump in another leap over 17 feet while anchoring the 4×100 Meter Relay to a photo finish win. Travis anchored the winning 4×800 Meter Relay while also taking the top spot in the 800 Meter Dash.

Campbell also took a 2nd in the High Jump and a 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash. She was joined on the winning relay by Senior Leah Highley, Junior Riley Alfandre, and Sophomore Ava Miller.

Travis also took 2nd in the 3200 Meter Run and was joined on the winning 4×8 by Senior Evelin Perez, Junior Adurey Woodard, and Freshman Quinn Brunner. Brunner took 2nd to Travis in the 800 with Juinior Addison Carey coming in 3rd for a 1-2-3 sweep of the event.

A trio if Junior Lady Eagles earned individual wins in the field events. Thrower Jennessa Shields grabbed a win in the Shot Put with a throw of 33 feet while also managing a strong 2nd in the Discus. Bella Taylor won the High Jump with a new personal best of 4-10 while also taking 2nd in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Abby Sneed was the winner in the Pole Vault.

Highley took 2nd in the 200 Meter Dash in her 2nd fastest time ever of just over 27 seconds while also anchoring the 4×400 Meter Relay to a photo finish runner up spot. In doing so she set a new program record of 58.7 for her split which surpasses the record previously set by Danielle Thompson in 2013 by almost a full second. Highley was joined on the relay by Sophomore Audrey Rex along with freshmen Kora Pond and Erika Newhouse. Pond was an event runner up in the 400 Meter Dash in a time of 1:03.

Perez grabbed the only other 2nd place finish for the Lady Eagles as the senior was 2nd running the 1600 Meter Run for the 1st time in her career.

Boys Varsity Golf finishes 1st place at Southwood/Wabash

The Oak Hill Eagles defeated Wabash and Southwood tonight at Etna Acres GC. Led by Trent’s 39 the Eagles posted a 182, Wabash 191, and Southwood 206. The Eagles are back in action tomorrow at Arbor Trace.
