After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eastern, the Lady Kings (4-6) was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Southwood Knights (9-2) by a score of 5-2.

Amma Fitzhugh spent all ten innings on the mound, and it’s clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn’t pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kami Silcox, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ava Hubner, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

The Lady Kings win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6. As for Southwood, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.

The Lady Kings will be looking forward to the support of their home crowd in their next game. The Lady Kings will take on Frontier at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lady Kings is facing Frontier at the right time seeing as Frontier is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
