Boys Varsity Baseball falls to Peru 5 – 3

The Braves dropped a tight contest in Peru 5-3. The Braves found themselves in an early whole. The offense didn’t do much until the 6th inning. Bennett Isenburg lead off the inning with a single. Marcell Sims followed with an RBI single. Then Kaleb Shelton doubled to score Sims. Jacob Isley walked, and Braxtin Birner put down a sacrifice bunt. Shelton took home on a ball that barely got away from the catcher to score the third run.

Coaches Quotes: “I am proud of how our team played tonight. We were down 3-0 before we got an out. We settled in and played pretty solid ball the rest of the way. We made a couple of mistakes that allowed them to score a couple of more runs. But in the end, we played hard for 7 innings. Our guys don’t give up, and I am proud of them for that.”

We play Friday night at home against Elwood. 5:30 start.

Girls Varsity Tennis falls to Whitko 2 – 3

After rain, rescheduling twice and having to forfeit matches, Maconaquah Tennis was finally able to make their way back to Whitko to resume match play 2 weeks from the orginal date. Due to unexpected circumstances, both Whitko and Mac forfeited a match each to tie the score 1-1, for Whitko 1 Doubles and Maconaquah 3 Singles. Most of our Varsity girls resumed the match down in the first set, but recovered in the second set, taking them into third sets. Overall, the result was not what we hoped for, as the Lady Braves fell 2-3 against Whitko.

******************

Tough loss last night on the road for Maconaquah Girls Tennis. 1 and 2 Doubles made quick work of their wins, putting the team ahead by 2. Singles had some tough match ups that they ultimately couldn’t pull out a win. With only 2 matches left in the regular season, the team travels to Lewis Cass this Saturday.
