Women’s Wrestling Begins At Whitko Invite
The Manchester, Northfield and Wabash girls wrestling teams kicked off their first official season at the Whitko wrestling invite Saturday.
The Northfield, Manchester and Wabash womens wrestling teams wrote a new chapter in history as they journeyed to Whitko High School for the 1st ANNUAL Wildcat Wrestling Invitational. The IHSAA’s official sanctioning of girls’ wrestling as a varsity sport in April paved the way for this momentous event.
The lady Squires wrestling team took 12th out of 25 teams. Lesli Diaz 3-0 1st place, Katelynn leckrone 2-1 2nd place, Gracie Miller 3-1 3rd place, Adriana Escudero 1-2, Macy Tuggle 1-2, Colson Baert 0-2.
The Wildcat Invitational, the first competition of the 2024-2025 season, was a platform for the Lady Norsemen to showcase their talent, and they did not disappoint, with all six wrestlers placing in the top four of their respective weight classes. Place Finisher were Senior Ella Gahl (3-0) 1st place at 155lbs (B Bracket) Sophomore Amarha Frieden (4-0) 1st place at 135lbs Freshman Olia Leffert (2-1) 2nd place at 125lbs Senior Lindsey Dill (2-1) 2nd place at 155lbs (A Bracket) Junior Ella France (4-2) 4th place at 130lbs Sophomore Kaedence Mithell 4th place at 100lbs
