The Manchester girls and boys basketball teams split a pair of games at Oak Hill Saturday. In the boys game Gavin Betten became the Squires all-time leading scorer.
The Lady Squires fell to Oak Hill 49-45.
After a slow start the Lady Squires were able to go on a run during the second quarter to tie the game. A couple unfortunate plays right before halftime, sent the ladies into the locker room down six.
Despite a ten-point deficit in the 3rd quarter, the Lady Squires chipped away and were able to get themselves back in the game with some big shots from Hanna Stout, Molly Schannep, and Hadley West. It wasn’t quite enough as Oak Hill hit some big free throws to close out the game with a final score of 49-45. Multiple ladies contributed to scoring tonight, but Molly Schannep led the Squires with 10 points.

The Manchester boys defeated Oak Hill 76-36.
The Squires started off the game well jumping out to a 20-7 lead after one. Betten had 12 first quarter points and Kline added 8. In the second quarter Manchester really started to separate themselves from Oak Hill by going into halftime up 46-20. The Squires outscored the Golden Eagles in all 4 quarters. Betten lead the way in scoring with 35, Kline 11, Hendrix 10, Heath 8, Torpy 5, Reid 4, and Martin 3.
Betten’s 35 points gave him 1459 points and counting for his career. The old mark was 1455
