The Wabash high school and middle school cross country teams ran in the Mississinewa Invite Saturday.
The Wabash Middle School girls cross country team opened their season at the Mississinewa Invitational, finishing 4th overall.
Coming in first for the running Apaches race crew was 8th grader Grace Jones, taking 7th place overall and running a time of 14:03. Second for the team was 5th grader, Caroline Myers, running in with a time of 14:37 and placing 12th overall. Following in was 6th grader Eva Sommers with a time of 15:31 and taking 21st place in the race. Leading a string of Apaches was 6th grader Ruby Cantrell with a time of 16:32 and placing 30th overall. Another Apache into the shoot was 5th grader, Lily Hearn, running in with a time of 16:35 and taking 31st place. The next Apache was our 5th grader, Lola Hill, with a time of 17:08 and coming in 32nd in the line up. Next for the team was 6th grader, Braelyn Jones, running in with a time of 17:11 and placing 33rd. The next Apache in was 5th grader Haven Cook with a time of 117:31 and placed 38th overall. Right behind her was 5th grader Marlowe Fansher with a time of 17:32 and placing 39th overall. Following into the shoot was 8th grader Alexis Lynn with a time of 18:02. Lynn placed 45th overall. Up next was 6th grader Rory Edwards, finishing her race with a time of 19:08 and taking 51st place. Next into the shoot was 5th grader, Alora Hampton, with a time of 19:24 and finishing in 52nd place. Next up was another 5th grader, Roslyn Hall, with a placement of 54th and running in with a time of 20:11. Following into the shoot was Harper Ellet, an 8th grader. Ellet ran a time of 20:14. Not far from her was 5th grader Lauren Cook with a time of 20:23 and in 56th place. Up next was a newcomer to the team, 7th grader Raelyn Page with a time of 23:31 and taking 61st place. Round out the Apaches was 7th grader Daisy Ravenscroft finishing her race in a time of 26:08 and placed 64th overall.
The Wabash Middle School boys cross country team won the Mississinewa Invitational Saturday morning. 8th Grader Jeffery Small was the individual race winner with Easton Cantrell (4th), Macklin Denney (5th), Will Sullivan (7th), Luke Aspinwall (8th), Alek Aspinwall (9th), and Lukas Rojas (15th) all forming a close pack. Aiden Young finished 21st, Chase LaSalle 32nd, Isaac Mattern 36th, Parker Treska 39th, and Finn Fairchild 47th.

A huge shout-out goes to freshman Teresina Cordes, who had an incredible performance, breaking the Mississinewa course record AND setting a new Wabash school record with a time of 19:29.9! Teresina shattered the previous school record of 20:22.5, originally set by Katherine Wilhelm.
Following in after Cordes, was Sutton Stoffel, another freshman, with a time of 22:18 and taking 4th place overall. Next up for the team was Mya Golliher, a sophomore, coming in with a 22:42 time and taking 7th place. Zooming into the finish was Emma Cantrell, another sophomore, with a time of 29:38, and placing 53rd overall.
The Wabash High School boys cross country team competed Saturday at the Mississinewa Invitational where a mix of new and returning runners donned the orange and black for the first time this season. Freshman Kedryn Evenson led all Apaches with a 9th place finish. Senior Luis Trejo running for the first time in his high school career finished 13th. 2nd year runners Kalib Mabery and Landen Fisher finished 28th and 41st. Demetri Shull was 54th and Barrett Benzinger and Carter Pegg were 72nd and 73rd.
