Manchester Cross Country Honored by USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Three individuals and the Manchester University women’s cross country team all were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their outstanding performances both in and out of the classroom.

Two men’s cross country runner, Daniel Baker (Okemos, Mich. / Okemos) and Lucas Fontanez (Lowell, Ind. / Lowell), were both named to the USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Team. Kesley Tyler (Rochester, Ind. / Rochester) also was named to the USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Team. To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

The Manchester University women’s cross country team was among 215 women’s programs that were honored this year by the USTFCCCA. For a team to be considered for this honor, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. The women’s cross country program posted a 3.21 team GPA and won its year’s third conference title in the last four years. Four Spartans earned all-HCAC honors and head coach Brian Cashdollar was named the HCAC Coach of the Year.
