The Manchester swim teams split a pair of meets with Columbia City Monday.

It took a total team effort by Manchester’s girls to pull away from a talented Columbia City team on Monday night.

Josie Briner led the way with first place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly. Gracie Dale finished first in the 100 freestyle in a great race, and Evyn Fox swam a personal best in the 500 free to take first. The 200 freestyle relay team of Dale, Nele Bichler, Sophie Anglin, and Kaesyn Lester finished first as well.

It was the depth of the Squires that made the difference. Lester, Fox, and Paulie Martin went 2-3-4 in the 200 freestyle. Lester and Adia Selleck finished 2-3 behind Fox to deliver a Squire sweep in the 500 freestyle. Hannah Eberly, Bichler, and Dale finished 2-3-4 in the 100 breaststroke to gain valuable points.

The Manchester boys swim team lost to a tough Columbia City squad on Monday night.

The 200 medley relay team of Liam York, Jonathan Eberly, Cale Bennett, and Raice Martin opened the night with a strong second place performance. Jonathan Eberly posted a solid second place finish in the 200 IM, and Liam York captured the lone first place finish for the Squires with a first place tie in the 50 freestyle. Raice Martin swam a personal best time in the 100 backstroke to take third while York finished a close second in the 100 breaststroke with a personal best time. Finally, despite a hard charge from York on the anchor, the 400 freestyle relay team of Eberly, Bennett, Caleb Smith, and York finished second.
