Girls Varsity Tennis Falls to Wabash 3 – 2
The Lady Tigers hosted the Apaches and lost 2-3. Peru won 2 spots but forfeited the #2 Doubles spot thus costing them the match.
1 Singles Jacey Boswell won 6-4, 6-3
2 Singles Madilyn Clark lost in three sets
3 Singles Kaelyn Edwards won 6-3, and in a second set tiebreaker.
1 Doubles Emmy Thompson and Sophia Greer lost in tiebreak and 5-7.

Tigers blank Panthers 12-0 for 9th win in a row.
The scorching hot Tigers traveled to Royal Center to face the Pioneer Panthers. This is the first meeting between the 2 teams in a while between the Covid season and weather-related changes.
The Tigers started early as Ian Potts reached on a 1-out walk and stole 2nd base a few pitches later. Reis Bellar reached on an error by the 2nd baseman allowing Potts to score and Bellar to advance to 2nd and then 3rd on a wild pitch. Matthew Roettger drew a walk and stole 2nd on the first pitch. Jackson Rogers roped a single to left driving in Bellar. The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the inning.
Ryne Butt took the mound for the Tigers. It only took him 7 pitches to work through the bottom half of the inning, stranding 2 base runners after giving up 2 singles.
The Tigers added on in the 2nd inning. Butt drew a 1-out walk, bringing Tel Smith in as a courtesy runner and he stole 2nd. Gavin Eldridge drew a walk. Potts reached on an infield single to load the bases. Bellar hit into a fielder’s choice driving in Smith. Roettger was safe at first on a dropped 3rd strike that allowed Eldridge to score. Rogers reached on an infield single behind 2nd base that drove in Bellar, he then got caught in a rundown that allowed Roettger to cross home plate for the final Tiger tally. Peru led 6-0.
Back-to-back singles by the Panthers put some pressure on the Tigers but their defense held strong retiring the next 3 batters.
Peru blew the game open in the 3rd. Isaac Braley led off with a single and Fox Huppenthal was hit by a pitch. Butt reached on an error by the center fielder who was able to make the throw to 3rd to get Braley. Eldridge drew a walk to load the bases. Potts hit into a fielder’s choice scoring Huppenthal. Bellar singled driving in Smith who ran for Butt. Roettger hit a hard single that bounced off the pitcher’s leg and ended up in shallow right field scoring Potts and Bellar. Roettger advanced from 1st to 3rd on a wild pitch. Rogers collected his 3rd hit of the night driving in Roettger. The Tigers held a commanding 11-0 lead going into the bottom of the 3rd.
Pioneer drew a lead-off walk that was quickly erased on a double play with a line drive out to Rogers in right field and a throwback to Roettger at first. Pioneer then tallied their final hit of the evening but a throwing error allowed him to advance to 3rd where he was stranded.
Peru got a couple of base runners in the 4th with Lucas Musser singling to center and Butt being hit by the pitch but neither were able to score. Pioneer went 3 up and 3 down in the bottom of the 4th.
Bellar got things started in the 5th reaching on an error by the center fielder and taking 2nd on that play. He then stole 3rd. Roettger singled to shortstop driving in Bellar. Rogers drew a walk. The Tigers led 12-0 going into the bottom of the 5th.
Keyton Ousley came in to pitch and retired the Panthers 3 up and 3 down on 9 pitches to end the game.
Butt picked up the win going 4 innings, allowing 0 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Ousley went 1 inning with 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 walks, and 0 strikeouts.
Peru was led offensively by Rogers with 3 hits and 3 RIBs and Roettger with 2 hits and 4 RIBs. Bellar scored 4 times with Potts and Roettger each scoring twice.
The Tigers are now 11-2(5-0 TRC) and will face Argos tonight at 5:30 pm at Tiger Field for Senior night where we will honor our 6 players and 3 managers.
