Maconaquah Boys Soccer team defeated Blackford 5-0 to improved to 6-2-1 on the season. The Braves seemed to control the game from the beginning, using good possessions and passing to move the ball well. The overall shots on goal were heavily in Maconaquah’s favor (19 to 1). Maconaquah got the scoring started when Louis Mendoza took the ball from a Kaden Hanson thru ball, beat a couple of defenders and drew the goalie’s attention and laid a perfect pass to a waiting Bennett Isenburg for the easy goal. This play was a perfect example of how we as a team want to attack goalies- draw their attention and lay a perfect pass. This seemed to open up the scoring as the Braves attack was relentless. Colton Beebe scored off a deflected corner kick from Corey Nord. Beebe, then lobbed a ball to Kevin Nord to assisted Kade Nye on a crash. This gave the Braves a 3-0 lead over the Bruins going into halftime. The second half went no better for Blackford as the Maconaquah scored two more goals in the first five minutes. Garret McManus scored after another Corey Nord to Kevin Nord corner kick. The goalie deflected Kevin’s shot but Garret was able step over the goalie and put the ball in the net, without fouling . The fifth goal came again from a Corey Nord corner kick, this time with Kobe Bowman getting his 2nd goal of the year on a header. The Braves are now 6-2-1 on the season with the next game coming at Delphi on Thursday 9/12.
