The Manchester Lady Squires traveled to Rochester Monday to take on the Lady Zebras in a TRC conference matchup and came home with a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
Manchester came out on fire, putting pressure on the Rochester defense from the opening whistle. Aeryn Klose found the back of the net early off an assist from Raimi Vawter to give the Squires a quick 1-0 advantage. Klose struck again shortly after, this time finishing off a great feed from Rachel Eberly to put Manchester up 2-0.
The Squires continued to pour on the pressure and created numerous scoring opportunities throughout the match. Ava Sautter, Allie Egolf, Raimi Vawter, and Rachel Eberly all had great looks at goal as Manchester continued to challenge the Zebra defense.
On the other end of the field, Manchester turned in another strong defensive performance. Kerrington Hearn, Ely Mobley, Brooklynn Grimes, and McKayla Dillon did a great job controlling the back line, while Mackenna Bolinger, Hayden Krom, Jocelyn Young, and Delaney Harshman battled through the middle and helped limit Rochester’s attacks. Shiann Owens was strong in goal, allowing just one score on the night.
Rochester was able to find the net once in the second half, but the Lady Squires stayed composed and battled through the final whistle to secure the 2-1 TRC victory.
