The Northfield baseball team traveled to Churubusco Monday, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the first before falling 9-3.
The Norse would plate a run in the first when Clayton Tomlinson hit a one out single. Nate Drancik would then hit into a fielders choice that forced Tomlinson out at second. Drancik would then take second and third on two passed balls before Braden Ripplinger reached on an error, scoring Tomlinson.
Churubusco would answer with 4 runs in the second, 1 in the third and 1 in the fourth to grab a 6-1 lead before the Norse plated their next run in the fifth. In the top of the fifth Cole Rosen and Tomlinson led off the inning with back to back singles. The duo would then pull off a double steal before Ripplinger again hit into a fielders choice, scoring Rosen to make it 6-2.
The Norse were trailing 9-2 headed to the seventh before scoring their final run. Tomlinson led off with a walk and was followed by a Drancik single. With runners on first and second and one out Jarrett Shafer would single to right center, scoring Rosen for the 9-3 final.
