The Wabash Apaches opened their season Wednesday againt Wawasee, falling behind 5-0 before coming all the way back for a 6-5 win.
Wawasee would score 4 runs on the second and 1 in the top of the fourth before the comeback started. In the bottom of the fourth Blake Gribben would hit a one out single followed by a Payton Sodervick single. With runners on second and third Booth would ground out, chasing Gribben home to make it 4-1.
In the fifth Trenton Daughtry would draw a one out walk and advance to second on a balk. With two outs Kallen Kelsheimer would single home Daughtry to make it 5-2
Gribben would start off the sixth with a single and was followed by a Joe Leland single to put runners on the corners. With two outs Bryant Boggs made it 5-4 when he singled home Sickafus after Gribben had scored on a passed ball.
Trailing 5-4 heading to the bottom of the seventh Jared Holley would lead off the inning with a single and was followed by a Kelsheimer single. Robert Irgang would then lace a double to left, chasing Holley home with Kelsheimer being held up at third. After a Gribben walk, Leland would single home Kelsheimer for the game winner.
