Manchester traveled to Bunker Hill to face Maconaquah in a TRC matchup on a warm, windy night. Manchester continued its strong play with another 5-0 victory.

Singles players Halle Briner #2 and Eva Bazzoni #3 would score the first two victories for the Lady Squires. Briner wouldn’t give up a game while Bazzoni held her opponent without a game until late in her match. The two doubles team of Rebekah Pyle and Alyssa Marvel notched the third team point with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win. A few moments later, Kelsey Eichenauer wrapped up her #1 singles match and joined her fellow senior #1 double teammates of Anna Osborne and Halie Wampler as they all walked off for the 5-0 sweep. “Overall we came and took care of business tonight. I thought the wind kept us from playing our best at times, but we got on a roll and moved one step closer to a conference title.” Coach Eichenauer commented about the matches: “Kelsey struggled with serve consistency at the start but finished with strength. Halle let the wind float a few balls, but was the aggressor all match resulting in some nice net play. Eva would hit out on a few balls where a gust would carry extra distance, but her serve and strokes really controlled the points in her favor. Osborne & Wampler figured out how to play the wind to their advantage while Pyle & Marvel were stronger in all facets of the game which led to an easy victory.”

In JV singles play sophomores Alexa Donathan and Roma Kaur along with freshman Kayla Hippensteel dominated in prosets giving up only one game collectively. JV doubles action saw senior Morgan Stroud mentor freshman Abbie Wampler in a nice 8-4 victory while senior Briley Spann led sophomore Margaret Myers in a similarly successful 8-1 win. Playing and showing improvement were Cassie Newman paired with freshman Emma Pyle and newcomers Addie Haecker and Ema Mercova. Haylie Miller and Catherine Ondrla wrapped up the play in a scrimmage showing off their skills and advancements.

Manchester travels to Northfield Wednesday for another conference matchup before hosting Wawasee on Thursday.
