The Manchester Lady Squires played host to Adams Central Tuesday, falling 4-1 to the Flying Jets.
Hits didn’t come easy for either team with just 10 combined hits in the game. The Lady Squires would garner just four against the always tough Adams Central pitching.
Freshman pitcher Emma Evans kept the Flying Jets scoreless for three innings before the visitors scored in the fourth. Adams Central would score a run in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth for a 4-0 lead before the Squires got on the board in the bottom of the seventh.
Manchester would threaten a couple times without crossing the plate. The Squires drew two walks in the first, had a walk and a single in the third and a single and a walk in the sixth before breaking the ice in the seventh. With one out Emma West would reach on an error. Torina Runkel would follow with a double with West being thrown out at the plate. Evans would follow with a single that scored Runkel to make it 4-1.
