Squires Score Late To Defeat Peru
The Manchester Squires got a 3 hit pitching performance from Grant Strobel to defeat Peru 4-1 Wednesday.
Peru would score their lone run in the second to grab a 1-0 lead. With one out Townsend would draw a walk and was followed by Dicken reaching on an error. Tyler would follow with a single to load the bases before Huppenthal reached on an error with Townsend scoring. The Squires would get out of the inning with a strike out and a fly out.
Manchester would grab the lead in the fourth. Trey Clark led off with a single. With Clark standing on second Grant Strobel would single to tie the score. Kam Lester would then reach on a fielders choice before Strobel scored on a passed ball for a 2-1 lead. With one out Mason Roberts would walk before two strike outs ended the inning.
The Squires would score a couple insurance runs in the sixth. Hensley would lead off being hit by a pitch. Hensley would advance to second on a passed ball before taking third on a ground out. With two outs Strobel would draw a walk before a Lester single scored Hensley to make it 3-1. Meyer would follow with a single to score Strobel for the 4-1 score.
