The Northfield baseball team got a 17 strike out performance from pitcher Nate Drancik on his 18th birthday to defeat Rochester 3-1 Tuesday.
Rochester would grab a 1-0 lead in the top of the second with the Norse tying the score in the bottom. Nate Drancik would lead off drawing a walk and score on a two out Gage Watkins single.
The Norse would take the lead in the fifth. Watkins would lead off with a double. With one out Michael Fisher would be hit by a pitch. With two outs Chance Hartman singled home Graydon Holmes to make it 2-1.
In the sixth Braden Ripplinger would hit a one out double before scoring on a Jarrett Shafer single for the 3-1 lead.
Along with the 17 strike outs, Drancik allowed just 4 hits while not walking a batter.
