NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University men’s soccer team fell in non-conference action on Saturday September 14. The visiting Tigers topped the Spartans by a final score of 5-1.
DePauw broke into the scoring column first on Saturday, scoring in the 16th minute.
Manchester answered right back with a goal of its own just 10 minutes later. A defensive miscue by the Tigers allowed Josh Gonzalez (Portage, Ind./Portage) to steal the ball and fire it into the back of the net for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
The Tigers regained the lead just before the halftime intermission, scoring in the 38th minute. DU led 2-1 at the break.
The visiting Tigers tallied three goals in the second half of Saturday’s contest.
Manchester slid to 2-3-1 this season. The Tigers improved to 4-1 in 2019. Manchester University will travel to nearby Huntington on Thursday September 19 for a 4 pm match.
