The Southwood junior high football teams split a pair of games with Maconaquah Tuesday.

The 7th grade defeated Maconaquah 17-0.

Offensively, Southwood was led by the efforts of Griffin Chambers, Coan Holloway, and Maddox Marshall. The blocking by the outside receivers Bo Liddick, Brody Wattles, Wyatt Smith, Gage Whitaker, and Mason Shenefield were key on some big plays.

Defensively, the Knights were led by Nolan Hiner, Brody Height, Ivan Ranck, Owen Enyeart, and Maddox Marshall. Coan Holloway added a pick six as time expired to seal the win.

The 8th grade fell to Maconaquah 32-0.

Due to being short-handed following multiple injuries, the 8th-grade would only play a half of football versus Maconaquah on Tuesday night. The scoreboard did not indicate the better effort put forth by the Knights for most of the half. Offensively, the Knights moved the ball with some success led by tough running of Gabe Mealy, Cam Hutch, and Coan Holloway.

Defensively, the Knights played a lot better as they forced a turnover on the first play of the game and only gave up a couple of big plays that led to scores for the Braves. The defensive efforts were led by Dalton Barney, James Carper, Ryan Heister, Logan Robberts and Maddox Marshall.
