The Northfield boys basketball team fell to Southern Wells 64-63 Saturday.

Will Rickerd grabbed a rebound then drove the length of the court to lay it in with 2 seconds left.

Another slow start led Northfield to being down 24-14 before the Norse clawed their way6 back into the game and actually build a seven point lead. It was short lived as the Raiders hit back to back 3’s to cut the lead to one.

leading the way for Northfield was Clayton Tomlinson with 23 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Paul Treska had his finest game as a varsity player with 14 points and a career high 9 rebounds on 7 of 10 shooting. Dillon Tomlinson hit a key three to put the Norse in the lead to finish with 9 points, Trent Osborn played very well off the bench with 4 points and 4 assists. Jake Halderman was also good off the bench with 3 points and a career high 7 rebounds.

Kaleb Krom scored 4 points with 5 rebounds as the Norse dominated the boards. Jayden Peas, Alex Haupert and Eli Kroh all scored 2 points. Northfield now 1-5 travels to Smith Academy on Wednesday in a Varsity only 6 pm tip.

The JV came away with a 59-45 win for their first win of the year. Noah Burkhart scored 15 points and Kody Stambaugh joined him double figures with 11. Eli Kroh scored 9 points and had a team high 11 rebounds. CJ Long and Jaxton Peas each scored 7 points, Eric Tracy scored 5 points as Tristan Hoffman scored 3 and Kamden Carpenter had 2.

The Junior Norse now 1-4 will be off until Friday at Tippecanoe Valley.
