Squire Wrestling 5th At 1A Team State
The Manchester Squires wrestling team went 3-1 to finish in 5th place in the IHSWCA Team State for Class 1A Saturday.
Squires move to 13-3 on the season, and improve from an 8th place finish in Team State last year.

Manchester showed a ton of heart and resilience to battle back to finish 5th at Team State despite two key starters out of the lineup. After winning a dual vs South Adams on the 11th tiebreaker criteria (most takedowns), the Squires lost a hard-fought dual vs no. 1 seed and eventual team champion Tell City. In the next match, the Squires beat rival Wabash for the second time in the week to move on to the 5th place match. Seniors Elijah Burlingame and Jacob Caudill picked up huge wins to avenge losses to the Apaches on Tuesday, and Junior Dylan Stroud majored his opponent who had previously battled him into overtime. Against Rensselaer, Manchester faced a 30-3 deficit and won every match from 132-195 to roar back to a 40-30 lead! Senior Gavin Mize sealed the win and 5th place for the team with his 4th pin on an impressive day. Sophomore Zach France looked very good despite facing the toughest competition on the day and fellow sophomores Jordan Ayres and Raven King picked up huge pins vs the Bombers that made that win possible. Junior Dominic Lincoln filled in the lineup very well going 3-1 with 3 pins to improve on a good season in limited action. Manchester will look to build on the positives from Team State in preparation for Senior Night Wednesday against Eastern at 6:30 PM.
