The Wabash boys soccer team defeated Tippecanoe valley 3-2 Tuesday.

Jacob France netted the first goal for the Apaches after he gathered a long outlet ball from goalkeeper Isaac Byers. France nudged the ball past the defenders then fired a laser into the back corner past a charging Viking goalie. Byers ended the game with 10 saves and his first ever assist.

Early in the second half, a hard-charging Coleson Kugler drove the ball inside Valley’s 18 and drew a penalty. France completed his brace of goals by tucking the ball into the lower corner to put Wabash up 2-0. Valley responded a few minutes later with a goal of their own from distance. Valley capitalized on that goal to build momentum through the middle of the second period. The Apache defense absorbed the pressure and created counterattacks by feeding the ball through Sol France and Jacob Fuchs. With 20 minutes to go, Troy Guenin-Hodson gathered a loose ball wide and dribbled to the center beating several defenders before firing a rocket into the goal from outside the box.

Valley kept pressing and the tension was mounting in the closing minutes. Valley picked up their second goal late in the game off a loose ball shot. Wabash rallied with the game at 3-2. Sol France reestablished the Apache midfield dominance through hustle and grit. Clutch defensive plays by Brodie Craft and Prestyn Jones proved important in denying Valley quality chances to tie the game.
