Last year on Senior Night, then Freshman Daisy Williams stole the show by shooting a sub-40 round.

For the 2022 senior night, Daisy Williams took it a step further and shot a sub-par round. Daisy was match medalist with a one under 35, her low score on the season. Daisy used accurate driving and excellent approach shots to birdie the par 5 fourth hole and the par 4 ninth hole. Junior Miranda Stoll was second on the team with a 40. Miranda played a very even round by recording no score worse than a bogey and parring holes one through four. Her drives were accurate and her short game saved shots when needed. Sophomore Finely Dobbs was third on the team with a 50 on the evening. Finley didn’t have her A game on the night, but she was able to scramble when necessary and played the par threes at only one over par.

Now to the seniors: Neither senior had a great night on the course as both chose to enjoy the evening and work on their games instead of trying to score. Both seniors got to play with their sisters for what may be the last time. Courtney played with her sister Miranda and carded a 54. This high score is not typical for Courtney, but she chose to use the match as practice (Taylor had only one player, so Maconaquah won by forfeit) to work on parts of her game that have been giving her problems. That led to some offline shots, but the lessons learned will serve her better in the near future. Lehna Wagner, who shot 52, got to play with her sister, freshman Maya Wager. Lehna got off to a rough start on her first two holes, but was able to turn it around and par the last two. Both seniors will be missed once the season concludes. Courtney Stoll’s hard work and high character is an example to the younger players while Lehna Wagner’s dedication to improve her game through sheer determination should motivate the younger players.

In Junior Varsity Action, the Lady Braves did very well. Freshman Maya Wagner carded a 60 which included being one shot of ahead of her sister after their first hole. Kathryn Rodkey, whose long game continues to improve, shot a 63. As her short game continues to progress and meet her abilities of her long game, her scores will plummet. Junior Haley Washburn used the round to improve her game in many areas and was observed to escape easily from several of Rock Hollow’s challenging bunkers. Freshman Jade Christopher continues to get better. She may not hit the ball far (yet) but her swing is becoming more consistent and she is making solid contact. It should be noted that Junior Sydney Barnes donated blood Wednesday and did not play as a safety precaution. She was still present to support her teammates.

As mentioned above, Taylor had only one player, so Maconaquah’s total of 178 won by forfeit. Maconaquah is now 10-0 in head to head matches. Maconaquah is back in action against a trio of TRC foes (Rochester, Tippy Valley, and Southwood) at Round Barn in Rochester.
