Results from Oak Hill for Friday, September 16th and Saturday September 17th

After a stellar defensive effort in the first half, the offense turned on the jets in the second half to score 28 unanswered points. The defense continued their outstanding play keeping Madison Grant off the board in the second half.

Kyle Turanchick continued his white hot streak by scoring another 5 touchdowns behind great offensive line play. He ended the night with 32 carries and 190 yards. The rushing attack also received great contributions from Avery Mills and Will Warnock. Mills rushed for 8 times and 65 yards while Warnock added another 3 carries for 11 yards.

Levi Trexler also had a great night through the air completing all 4 attemps for 92 yards. Lucas Hasty had 10 yards on 1 receptions, Mills had 22 yards on 1 receptions, and Ty Fagan had 58 yards on 1 reception. Turanchick also totaled 2 yards on 1 receptions.

Total yardage for the offense tonight was 358 yards (266 rushing yards and 92 passing yards).

Grant Elzinga went perfect on the night with 5 extra points on 5 attempts.

The OHXC Golden Eagles took on a new course and meet Saturday traveling to West Noble High School to compete in the 31 School – 52nd Annual West Noble Invitational. The invite is a showcase of many of the top teams, programs, and individuals that can eventually feed into the Fort Wayne area New Haven Semi State. The Golden Eagles as a whole had their strongest showing of the season finishing a very respectable 6th. Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran just two years removed from a State Championship beat Top 20 State Ranked Goshen to win the event with 92 points. The Golden Eagles totaled 175 points also behind Homestead, Leo, and Fort Wayne Carroll. DeKalb, Wabash, Fort Wayne Dwenger, and host West Noble rounded out the Top 10 finishing teams.

Golden Eagle Junior Owen Jackson in just his 2nd race of the season took individual honors in 16:09. Jackson ran in the Top 3 most of the race making a strong move to take over the lead with just 1,000 meters to run holding off a very tough individual field. Classmates Trenton Sweet and Toby Sneed continued to have breakout seasons as Sweet battled in the Top 10 all day ultimately medaling in 11th in a time of 16:39 while Sneed used a strong finish to earn a Top 30 medal in 22nd in a new personal best of 17:05.

Rounding out the varsity scoring Top 5 was Freshman Corban Tippey and Junior AJ Austin in 74th and 78th respectively. Freshmen Brayden Sommers 101st and Jordan Denham 121st made up the rest of the varsity.

In all 7 of the Golden Eagles that competed set new personal bests with 8 recording season bests.

The Golden Eagles compete again Tuesday in the Grant 4 Championship held at Madison Grant. The Men will be competing for their 7th straight team championship and 23rd in the last 24 seasons.
