VolleyKnights 8th Grade Wins State
The Southwood 8th Grade VolleyKnights won Middle School State Championship, going 10-0 on the day Saturday.
The 8th grade VolleyKnights started the day off by beating Maple Creek, 25-16, 25-18. They continued on and took out Selma, 25-15, 25-11. Next up was New Palestine and their winning streak continued, beating them, 25-11, 25-23, placing the girls in the Gold Championship Bracket after pool play.
These girls were ready to play Yorktown next, as this is the team that took them out of this tournament last year. The determination and excitement they brought to this match to redeem themselves, lead them to another win, 25-9, 25-21.
The last match of the day was against a very talented Silver Creek team, who were the reigning Middle School State Champions. With focus and grit, as this was the 5th match of the day, the 8th grade VolleyKnights worked together and came out on top, winning in 2 sets- 25-22, 25-21.
