Wabash JH Cross Country Invite

Results from the Wabash junior high cross country invite Saturday.

The Wabash Middle School boys cross county team finished 2nd at their own invitational Saturday morning. West Noble won the meet with a score of 44. Ezra Church was the individual champion with Luis Trejo coming in 2nd. Kamden Oswalt finished in 7th, Beckett Shaw 22nd, Jacoby Amburgey 30th, Landen Fisher 39th, Alex Perkins 48th, Demetri Shull 71st, and Mason Tart 77th. 5th graders Alex, Demetri, and Mason all ended their season with a new career personal record.

The MS Lady Apaches competed at the Wabash Invite Saturday morning. The team was divided, 10 being in the Varsity race and 6 in the Reserved race.

Coming in first for the varsity crew was 5th grader Teresina Cordes running a PR of 13:22 and taking 14th place. Next was 8th grader Chloe Cooper running in 16th place and running a PR of 13:33. 8th grader Mallory Tart came running in at a time of 14:08, tying her previous time and taking 26th place. Josie Bailey, another 8th grader, finished in 30th place with a time of 14:32. Following Bailey was 5th grader, Jersey Montgomery, in 34th place and running a 14:45 to finish her season. Closing her season strong was Sutton Stoffel, another 5th grader in a time of 15:03 and taking 38th place. Causing a double take was her twin, Briar Stoffel, as she closed in behind her with a time of 15:06 in 40th place. Next was 8th grader Rinka Higuera who ran in at 15:17, only 10 seconds from her PR and finishing in 41st place. Coming in next for the team was 8th grader Mia Fairchild. Fairchild ran a time of 15:24, tying her PR, and finished up in 45th place. Rounding out the varsity crew was Sienna Stoffel, a 6th grader. Stoffel sprinted in at 16:13, one second off her PR and finished in 53rd place. There were 71 athletes total in the varsity race.

In the reserved race, Kinslee McBride, a 5th grader came in at a huge PR time of 15:37 and taking 10th place to finish her season. Close behind was Audri Shidler, an 8th grader, who also ran a massive drop in time with a 15:47. Shidler finished in 12th place. Behind her was her 7th grade sister, Caitlyn Shidler, taking 20th place and running a season PR of 16:57. Following her was Kylie Mickelson, a 5th grader, finishing her season in 27th place with a time of 17:32. Next for the Apache crew was Emma Cantrell, a 6th grader, running a career PR of 17:37 and closing in at 28th place. Coming in next for the team was Allayna Renn, a 6th grader, running a career PR of 17:38 and taking 29th place overall to round out the team score. There were 80 athletes total in the reserved race between boys and girls.

Southwood’s three individual Knight runners placed eighteenth (Zander Chellis, personal best time of 12:23), 32nd (Andrew Wright, personal best time of 13:03), and 61st (Luc Neal, season best time of 14:46).

The Southwood girls’ team placed fourth with 117 points.

Individually, Shelby Thomas finished fourth with a time of 12:28 (tying her personal best). Paige Nelson placed fifth with a time of 12:52. Ava Stouffer came in 22nd with a time of 13:53. Olivia Ranck was 32nd with a time of 14:37. Ellie Simpson came in 65th with a time of 18:21. Karson Ward finished 70th with a time of 20:08.

The Lady Norse JH XC team finished 2nd Saturday at the Wabash Invitational Saturday. Leading the way was individual champion Kaleigh Rice and runner-up Laney Haupert. Ali Copeland and Teagan Baer both finished in the top 20. Adalynn Hawkens, Olia Leffert and Haylee Bucher rounded out the scoring for the Norse. Copeland, Hawkens, Leffert and Bucher all turned in lifetime best runs on the day. The Lady Norse will return to action next Saturday at the RRC to finish their season.

The JH Boys XC team finished 3rd at the Wabash Invitational Saturday morning. The top 7 boys all turned in lifetime best performances on the day. Bode Sorg, Wyatt Bucher, Eli Gahl, Kourtland Pratt, Preston Moore, Hudson Haupert and Nate Hodson. Sorg and Bucher both medaled on the day finishing in the top 10 and Gahl and Pratt both earned ribbons finishing in the top 20. In the reserve race Gavin Lester, Landon McLaughlin and Bentley Sutterby all ran lifetime bests. Lester finished 5th to earn a medal and McLaughlin earned a ribbon finishing 6th. The Norse will run again next Saturday in the RRC to finish the seaon.

The Manchester junior high girls finished 8th Saturday at the Wabash Invite. Rachel Steeley was 21st place, Emersyn Sarber was 25th place with a PR of 14:05, and Maggie was 35th with a PR of 14:46. Bronwyn Harris also ran a season PR.

The junior high boys finished 8th Saturday at the Wabash Invite led by Oliver Fitzpatrick in 14th place. Gabe Selleck, Ezra Hendricks, Graham Kreps-Miller, and Nolan Hernandez all ran PRs.
