Squire Swimmers Fall To Maconaquah

The Manchester swim teams took on Maconaquah Thursday.

The girls team fell to Maconaquah 124-58

The Manchester girls swim team won 6 events and broke a school record in Thursday nights loss to perennial TRC power Maconaquah. The 200 freestyle relay team of Rachel Garcia, Noelle Walt, Hannah Eberly and Josie Briner took first and shattered the school record by over 1.5 seconds. The previous record, held by A. Dils, H. Yoder, S. Gilbert, and A. Rinearson, has stood since 1995. Garcia, Eberly, Briner, and Sophie Anglin kicked off the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay. Briner cruised to easy victories in the 200 IM and 100 butterlfy and Garcia did the same to win the 50 and 100 freestyles. Eberly had a strong nigth capturing third in the 100 breaststroke. The 400 freestyle relay team of Evyn Fox, Anglin, Miriam Struble-Hedstrom, and Adia Selleck closed out the meet with a third place finish. Manchester will finish a busy week of racing on Saturday at the Warsaw Swimming Invitational.

Despite several strong swims across the board, the Manchester boys swim team fell to Maconaquah 114-37 on Thursday night. Liam York continued his perfect season in individual events by winning the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. York teamed with Tristan Schmid, Caden Marcum, and Cale Bennett to finish second in the 200 medley relay and York, Bennett, and Marcum teamed with Roberto Iaoine to capture second in the 200 freestyle relay. The Squires will close out their busy week of meets on Saturday at the Warsaw Swimming Invitational.
