North Miami High School Boys Varsity Basketball falls to Caston High School 65-51
Thursday night was a special night for North Miami boys’ basketball. Not only were they looking for redemption against Caston for beating them in the first round of the Holiday Tournament, but the team celebrated Senior Night for the two seniors, #12 Landen Hunt and # 54 Brayden Binnion.
After JV, the team and fans recognized the two seniors and their accomplishments over their high school careers. Starting out the game, both seniors got the Warriors off to a hot start, with the seniors scoring 11 of the 15 first quarter points for North Miami. After the first 8 minutes, the team stayed hot, putting up 12 more in the second and leading by 4 at halftime. The Warriors looked to have momentum and effort on their side tonight with their outstanding first half. Caston came out in the second half with a good run to give them the lead and it was all back and forth from there on out. Down 7 late in the fourth, the Warriors were forced to commit fouls, but the Comets kept converting at the line, shooting 20 free throws in the second half. After an amazing effort from the Warriors and senior leaders, the Comets came out on top 51-65 in the end. Leading the scoring was obviously the two seniors on their night, Hunt with 25 and Binnion with 13. Thank you two for all you’ve done the last four years and we wish you best of luck in the future. The Warriors now focus on Sectionals next Tuesday, when they take on the Winamac Warriors at Rochester for the first game of the Sectional.
The JV team saw a lot of pressure from the Comets and had some hard times handling the ball against it. With pressure and scoring being an issue, the Comets came out on top 33-53, and Braxtyn Rader put up a season-high 10 points for the Warriors.
