Maconaquah High School Varsity Baseball beat Eastern Jr & Sr High School 9-4

Trace Armstrong wasted no opportunities at the plate on Saturday, driving in four on two hits to lead Maconaquah Braves Varsity past Eastern 9-4 on Saturday. Armstrong drove in runs on a home run in the second and a single in the fourth.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity grabbed an early lead. Maconaquah Braves Varsity scored on a single by Jackson Collins in the first inning and a home run by Armstrong in the second inning.

In the bottom of the first inning, Maconaquah Braves Varsity tied things up at two. Collins singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Armstrong homered on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity put up three runs in the sixth inning. Kaleb Shelton, Collins, and Jacob Isley each drove in runs during the inning.

Adam Cannon got the win for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. MJ Ellis entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity collected seven hits on the day. Collins and Armstrong each collected multiple hits for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. Collins led Maconaquah Braves Varsity with three hits in four at bats. Maconaquah Braves Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Brandon Smitley had the most chances in the field with 14.

Maconaquah High School Varsity Baseball falls to Northwestern 21-11

The Maconaquah Braves watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 21-11 loss to Northwestern on Saturday.

Maconaquah lost despite out-hitting Northwestern 15 to 13.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity tallied three runs in the sixth inning. Trace Armstrong, Brandon Smitley, and Jackson Collins powered the big inning with RBIs.

Braxton Birner started the game for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. The righthander lasted one inning, allowing four hits and seven runs. Haydon Chance and Landon Adams entered the game from the bullpen, throwing five and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity totaled 15 hits in the game. Bennett Isenburg, Smitley, Jacob Isley, Armstrong, and Collins each collected multiple hits for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. Smitley and Isenburg all had three hits to lead Maconaquah Braves Varsity.

Maconaquah High School Boys Varsity Golf finishes 7th place at Logansport Invite

Senior, Billy Guinan shot a career best round of 88 and finished 18th overall out of 80 participants leading the Braves to a 7th place finish in the Logansport Invite held Saturday at Dykeman Golf Course in Logansport.

The team trophy went to Renssalaer Central as they led the 15 team event with a score of 340. Cass and Rochester finished close behind with 342 each. Lafayette Central Catholic, Western ands McCutcheon also topped Maconaquah with scores of 352,356 and 360 respectively.

Kokomo’s Karson Parrott shot a 78 and won a tie-breaker to take top honors individually.

The Brave’s score of 369 was good enough to top Twin Lakes, Logansport, Peru, Kokomo, Winamac, Pioneer, Wabash and Caston in the less than ideal conditions witnessed Saturday.

Others contributing to the strong effort were Freshman, Camron Metcalf (90), seniors, Ayden Jernagan (95)and Lane Brehmer (96) and junior, Cody Miller (105).

The Braves are back in action Tuesday, April 25th, in a dual match at Rock Hollow vs. Logansport with a 4:30 tee off.
