Wabash MS Baseball Splits With Peru

The Wabash Middle School baseball team split a double header with Peru Saturday.

Wabash over Peru 7-3

Harrison Phillipy wasted no opportunities at the plate on Saturday, driving in four on two hits to lead Wabash MS Apaches past Peru 7-3 on Saturday. Phillipy drove in runs on a double in the third and a single in the fourth.

Peru scored three runs in the first inning, but Wabash MS Apaches still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Peru came thanks to a single by Trason Ambrose and a double by Izzik Morris.

Peru got on the board in the first inning. Peru scored one run when Ambrose singled.

Wabash MS Apaches pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Phillipy doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs and Tyler Housman singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Wabash MS Apaches tallied three runs in the fourth inning. Wabash MS Apaches scored its runs on a single by Phillipy.

Gabe Lepage led things off on the hill for Wabash MS Apaches. The bulldog allowed six hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one.

Kasen Hiles led things off on the mound for Peru. The hurler lasted five innings, allowing ten hits and seven runs while striking out seven.

Wabash MS Apaches collected ten hits. Ian Edmond, Phillipy, and Kallen Gidley each racked up multiple hits for Wabash MS Apaches. Edmond went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Wabash MS Apaches in hits. Wabash MS Apaches stole seven bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Housman led the way with three.

Peru racked up six hits on the day. Ambrose and Hiles all managed multiple hits for Peru. Peru was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Lucas Vlery made the most plays with nine
