Varsity Softball beats Blackford 14 – 4

Oak Hill got a collective great outing from Karsyn, Macie and Madison Archer in the circle. We struck out 5 batters while only giving up 5 hits. But the best stat of the night was the pitching staff gave up zero walks.

The offense put 17 hits on the board led by Evie Holz, Lex Myers and Tay Holloway with three each. Zoey and Shaw added triples with RBIs.

The defense played a clean game only having 2 errors and making several impressive plays.

OHTF Lady Eagles Win 13 of 16 Events to Beat Peru 102-29 on Senior Night – Finish the Regular Season 26-1

The OHTF Lady Eagles wrapped up the regular season and celebrated Senior Night by winning 13 of 16 events to earn a 102-29 win over visiting Peru. With the win the Lady Eagles finish the regular season with an overall record of 26-1 along with Grant 4 and Central Indiana Conference Championships.

Senior Lauren Rex led the way for the Lady Eagles winning both throwing events. Sophomore Ellie Campbell led the way in points as she was part of two wins and two runner up finishes.

Rex went 1-2-3 in the Shot Put with Sophomore Jennessa Shields and Freshman Madelyn Cheek. Campbell won the Long Jump while also collecting 2nds in the 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash. Her 2nd win on the night came as part of the 4×100 Meter Relay. Campbell running that event for the 1st time anchored the Ladies home in a season best time. Joining Campbell on the relay were fellow Sophomores Riley Alfandre and Cail Bowlin along with Freshman Ava Miller.

Senior Kate Thompson grabbed a win on Senior Night edging Sophomore Bella Taylor at the line as the two went 1-2 in the 100 Meter Hurdles.

Sophomore Lady Eagle Abby Sneed collected two individual 1st on the night as well, taking the Pole Vault and 1600 Meter Run. Sneed led a 1-2-3 finish in the Pole Vault and a 1-2 sweep in the 1600. In the Pole Vault it was Freshmen Amelia McClain and Ava Miller both posting season best going 2-3, while in the 1600 Freshman Sophia Rowland took a close 2nd.

Juniors Ruth Tripp and Leah Highley were also individual winners in the High Jump and 400 Meter Run. Sneed’s classmate Audrey Woodard won the 800 Meter Run while Freshman Biruk Travis won the 3200 Meter Run.

The Lady Eagles swept all three relays as on top of the 4×1 win the took 1st in both the 4×800 Meter Relay and 4×400 Meter Relay. The 4×8 team consisted of Woodard along with Junior Evelin Perez and Freshman Kailtyn Scalf and Rowland. Perez doubled back as part of the winning 4×4 with classmate Tripp, Sophomore Braeleigh Evans, and Freshman Lydia Trexler. Perez and Trexler along with Freshman Lexi Nuber added individual runner up finishes on the night as well in the 400 Meter Dash, 800 Meter Dash, and 300 Hurdles.

The Lady Eagles begin the IHSAA Tourney Series next Tuesday May 16th in the Marion Sectional held at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Top 3 finishers in each event will advance to the following week’s Fort Wayne Carroll Regional to compete for a potential spot in the 2023 State Finals.

OHTF Golden Eagles Win 12 of 16 Events to Wrap Up Perfect Regular Season Beating Peru 91-41 on Senior Night – Finish 27-0

The OHTF Golden Eagles wrapped up a perfect regular season and celebrated Senior Night by winning 12 of 16 events to earn a 91-41 win over visiting Peru. With the win the Golden Eagles finish the regular season with an overall record of 27-0 along with Grant 4 and Central Indiana Conference Championships.

Four Golden Eagle Seniors earned wins on Senior Night with Silas Jones winning Shot Put, Wyatt Strange winning the Discus, Kyle Turanchick took the Long Jump, and Lucas Hasty claimed the top spot in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Turanchick and Hasty both also earned runner up finishes in other events with Turanchick being part of the 4×100 Meter Relay and Hasty in the 110 Meter Hurdles. Turanchick was joined on the 4×1 by three athletes who all claimed wins in other events. Junior Levi Trexler who took 1st in the the High Jump along with Sophomores Micah McKinney and Morshown Cotton who were part of the winning 4×400 Meter Relay team while McKinney also took 1st in the 400 Meter Dash. Joining McKinney and Cotton on the 4×4 was Junior Colin Middlesworth and Sophomore Lance Wyrick.

The Golden Eagles got big performances from the endurance crew as Middlesworth paired up with his Sophomore brother Owen Middlesworth along with his classmate Owen Roth and Freshman Jordan Denham to win the 4×800 Meter Relay. Individually Juniors Trenton Sweet and Owen Jackson shined as the duo both posted Top 10 Program All Time marks in winning the 1600 Meter Run and 800 Meter Run. Sweet ran a 4:23 in the 1600 for a new lifetime best, dropping over 10 seconds. His time ranks him 5th All Time in OHTF History behind only Thomas, Tolbert, Balser, and Parnell. Jackson also set a new lifetime best in the 800 dropping a 1:58. Jackson was running with normal 4×800 Relay members Senior Landon Biegel and Wyrick. Biegel took 2nd in 2:01 while Wyrick posted a 2:02. All lifetime best in the open event as well. Jackson’s time ranks 8th All Time on the OHTF record boards. Junior AJ Austin also had a solid night as he took 2nd to Sweet in the 1600 in another sub 5 minutes performance while also winning the 3200 Meter Run. Roth managed to collect a 3rd in the 1600 along with a 2nd in the 3200 to earn 1-2-3 and 1-2 sweeps in the events.

Junior Nate Brower led a 1-2-3 sweep in the Pole Vault with Senior Grant Elzinga and Sophomore Maddux Boswell going 2-3. Turanchick led a 1-2-3 sweep for the Golden Eagles in the Long Jump with Sophomore Cameron Jones and Senior Caleb Kroll taking 2nd and 3rd. Kroll also grabbed a runner up finish in the 300 Meter Hurdles behind Hasty. Sophomore Drew Elzinga grabbed 3rd in the event for another 1-2-3 sweep.

The Golden Eagles begin the IHSAA Tourney Series next Thursday May 18th in the Marion Sectional held at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Top 3 finishers in each event will advance to the following week’s Fort Wayne Carroll Regional to compete for a potential spot in the 2023 State Finals.
