Manchester Tennis Advances To Sectional Championship
The Manchester tennis team defeated Southwood 5-0 Thursday to advance to the sectional championship Friday.

Manchester tennis advanced to the sectional finals with a dominating 5-0 win versus Southwood Thursday night. Manchester dropped only three games as the Lady Squires tuned up for a match up against defending champs Peru on Friday. Bethany Penrod led the team winning the first point at 3 singles while Sarah Kerlin (1 singles) joined her a few minutes later for point two. Both players served up 6-0,6-0 victories and controlled play from start to finish. Soon after, Myla Crozier wrapped up her 6-0,6-1 win with excellent topspin shots, big serves, and solid net play. The one doubles duo of Delani Henderson and Carliegh Blevins only dropped a game near the end of set one after a 5-0 start. After winning 6-1, they cruised to a 6-0 set two victory. At two doubles Addison Brubaker and Hailey Krom started very strong, ripping big shots and serving up easy game wins. After losing only one game mid set two, they closed out the team 5-0 win with a 6-0,6-1 count. Manchester faces Peru at 5:15 Friday (weather permitting with a Saturday morning back up options) and looks to repeat their big win of last week against the Tigers. “This team is very fun to watch.
