Boys Varsity Baseball beats Madison-Grant 7 – 5

Maconaquah Braves Varsity lost the lead late in a 7-5 defeat to Madison-Grant on Thursday.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity lost despite out-hitting Madison-Grant eleven to eight.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning. Haydon Chance drove in one on a single.

After Madison-Grant scored one run in the top of the fifth, Maconaquah Braves Varsity answered with one of their own. Madison-Grant scored when Chance threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Madison-Grant. Maconaquah Braves Varsity then answered when Kaleb Shelton’s sac fly scored one run for Maconaquah Braves Varsity.

Chance was on the hill for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs, 4 earned, while striking out three.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity racked up eleven hits in the game. Braxton Birner, Trace Armstrong, Bennett Isenburg and Chance all managed multiple hits for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. Kaleb Shelton, Jackson Collins, and Zach Stolz also had hits for the Braves.

Maconaquah Softball Falls to Peru on Senior Night

Maconaquah (7-13) falls to Peru (6-11-1) at Home Wednesday night. The Braves celebrated Seniors Madi Wibel #20 and Manager Ella Santos at the beginning of the game. Madi plans to attend Ownes Community College to study Criminal Justice and Play Softball. Ella plans to attend Ball State to study Business Admin.

The Braves got down early allowing three runs to Peru in the top of the 1st. Battled back in the bottom of the 5th scoring three runs. A RBI single from Buman scored Clifton, and a two RBI single from Shaella Brazzel scored Buman and Barnes. After 5 innings Peru 4 Mac 3.

Peru picked up 3 in the 6th and 2 in the 7th leaving the Braves with a 9 to 3 deficet to over come.

In the bottom of the 7th the Braves rally with singles from Clifton, RBI single from Rader, and RBI single from Brazzel. However, the final score 9-5 Tigers.
