Lady Norse Fall To Mississinewa

The Northfield Lady Norse fell to Mississinewa 57-49 in their season opener Thursday.

The Indians jumped out to an early 8-2 lead before the Norse took over the remainder of the half. Down 8-2 Eden Hoover, Hannah Holmes and Elli Baker ignited a 10-0 run to give the Norse a 12-8 lead. Northfield led 12-10 after one quarter.

Holmes would score the first six points of the second quarter on two three point plays and was followed by a Callie Hoffman bucket. Northfield led 22-10. Hoffman, Baker and Holmes remained on a roll as Northfield led 33-19 at the half.

Mississinewa would come out of the half, applying heavy pressure and closing the deficit to 37-31 before Hoffman hit two free throws. At 41-37 Holmes would go down with a knee injury, nut the Norse got buckets from Baker and Hoover to lead 45-39 after three.

The Indians would score the first 12 points of the fourth quarter to grab a 51-45 lead before Baker hit. Mississinewa would out score Northfield 6-4 down the stretch for the 57-49 final.

Scoring : Baker 11, Kuhn 2, Hoffman 6, Hoover 10, Holmes 19

The Northfield junior varsity defeated Mississinewa 42-39.
