Manchester Swim Teams Stop Kokomo

The Manchester swim teams defeated Kokomo Monday.

The Manchester boys opened up their 2023-24 season with a 74-71 victory over Kokomo, led by 4 wins a piece from Cale Bennett and Cam Peacock

Bennett and Peacock teamed with Gabe Selleck and Caleb Struble-Hedstrom to win the opening 200 medley relay. Struble-Hedstrom took 2nd in the 200 freestyle and Bennett cruised to victory in the 200 IM. Jet Thomas and Selleck went 2nd and 3rd in the 50 freestyle and Bennett won the 100 butterfly in a close race. Luca Jelen took first in the 100 freestyle with Selleck picking up 2nd place and Cam Peacock cruised to a easy win in the 500 freestyle. Jelen Thomas, Jerry Yen and Struble-Hedstrom took 2nd place in the 200 freestyle relay. After Jelen’s 4th place in the 100 backstroke, Peacock, Thomas, and Struble-Hedstrom swept the 100 breaststroke. The 400 freestyle relay team of Bennett, Selleck, Jelen, and Peacock finished off the meet with a victory sealing the overall meet win for the Squires.

Next week Manchester will travel to Royal Center on November 28th to take on the Pioneer Panthers.

The Manchester girls swim team opened the 2023-24 season with a big 86-80 win over Kokomo on Monday night.

The 200 Medely relay team of Elena Lawrence, Hannah Eberly, Joanna Eberly, and Noelle Walt opened up the meet with a close win powered by a strong anchor leg from Noelle Walt. In the 200 freestyle Evyn Fox and Sophie Anglin earned valuable points finishing 3rd and 4th respectively. Rachel Garcia finished first in the 200 IM and Lawrence put in a strong effort to finish 3rd. Hannah Eberly, Walt, and Laynen DeLaughter swept the 50 freestyle. Lawrence and Adia Selleck powered through the 100 butterfly to finish 2nd and 3rd, and Garcia, Joanna Eberly, and Anglin went 2,3,4 in the 100 freestyle. Fox swam a great early sesaon time 500 freestyle to finish 3rd while the 200 freestyle team of Hannah Eberly, Walt, Anglin, and Garcia took 2nd. Joanna Eberly and Walt helped the Squires stay close in the 100 backstroke by finishing 2nd and 3rd. The Squires finally pulled away in the 100 breaststroke following an 1,3,4 finish by Hannah Eberly, Averi Thomas, and Victoria Lopez de Uralde Ortiz. A victory in the 400 freestyle relay by Garcia, Fox, Joanna Eberly, and Elena Lawrence sealed the meet win for the Squires.

Manchester will be back in the pool on Tuesday, November 28 when they travel to Royal Center to take on Pioneer.
