Boys Varsity Basketball beats Logansport 81 – 75

The Braves went into the Berry Bowl and were able to win over Logansport. The Braves improve to 4-2 and are at Whitko in TRC play on Tuesday.

Coach Burrus Quotes: “What a weekend of basketball. We were able to really get our running game going against Logan. I was pumped about our kids response to the Northwestern loss. These kids have done that twice this year. i think we definetly found some things against Logan. First, the play of AJ Kelly. He was tremendous throughout the whole game. He had 24 points at halftime. He just simply said I am going to the rim. He also keyed our running game. He has had some big games but this was his best game to date. Logansport is a very physical team and AJ just went at them. He finished with 30.

Josiah Ball played another very consistant, dominant game. He has such a knack for finding ways to score. He is starting to score more inside. He is continuing to improve. I thought his persistence paid off against Logan. He scored 27.

Ethan Zeiser had a great weekend. He hit some huge 3’s and is such a valuable defender. His play was key to us competing all weekend. Giving us 3 double-digit scores is big for our attacking offense. He ended with 14.

Fuddy Kile was really good on defense. He battled the bigger Logan kids inside and on the perimeter. He got several loose balls over the weekend. He finished with 7 points.

Kaden Miller scored 1 point but keyed our defense. He hustled every play. He helped slow down the offense of Logan. He does a good job attacking the ball.

Braxton Birner, Oakley Reeser, and MJ Ellis all came in and gave us good minutes. They all played great defense off the bench. MJ got a big bucket in the 2nd half.

We found we can win at a tough place. Beating Logan is always a good win. They play a brutal schedule. Our kids showed they can compete with anyone on our schedule. It doesn’t mean we will beat everybody but we are learning what it takes to compete at this level.

We will go after Whitko on Tuesday. They will be tough at home. Our kids will be ready for the challenge.”
