15 Varsity Tigers dominate North Miami 84-46

The Tigers travel north to Denver Indiana to face the North Miami Warriors in the last battle as TRC opponents, as North Miami is leaving the conference at the end of the year.

The Tigers started the game struggling to make shots while the Warriors handled Peru’s pressure, found the bottom of the basket, and jumped out to an early lead. Junior Gavin Eldridge hit a couple of 3’s en route to 8 points to help give the Tigers a 4-point lead.

The 2nd quarter saw the Tigers’ defense force the Warriors into taking tough contested shots, leading to fast break baskets on the offensive end, outscoring North Miami by 18.

Peru started the 2nd half the way the 1st one ended. Tough defense led to 9 Warrior turnovers, resulting in Peru outscoring them again by 14 and enacting the running clock mercy rule.

With the Tigers holding a 36-point lead to begin the final stanza, they were able to get the bench guys some minutes. Junior Ryne Butt and Sophomore Jacob Boswell were able to not only get their first taste of varsity basketball, they both also scored their first career points by chipping in a basket a piece. Overall each team traded baskets through the quarter.

The win moves the Tigers record to 7-3(4-0 TRC) on the season. They are back in action at the friendly confines of Tig-Arena, hosting the Oak Hill Golden Eagles at approximately 7:45 pm.
