Boys Varsity Basketball picks up a thrilling victory on the road!

Well, the Boys Varsity Basketball Team went to a tough environment at 15th ranked in 3A Peru and played their best game of the season to come away with a huge win 67-58. It took every player who stepped on the floor to get it done. In the first half RJ Shugart scored 14 points to pace the scoring for the Eagles. Jackson Lamb came off the bench in the first half and gave the effort and energy needed to help keep the game close and hit a big three point shot.

Down 6 at the half, the Eagles came out and outscored the Tigers 18-15 to cut the deficit to 3 going in the fourth. It was a balanced attack in the 3rd quarter for the Eagles as 5 different players scored for the Eagles. The play of the game also happened in the 3rd quarter when Trenton Sweet made a beautiful behind the back pass to Shugart for two points. Then in the 4th quarter freshman Jace Tonagel took over the scoring mantel scoring 13 of the game high and his career high 30 points! Jace hit 3 huge three pointers in that fourth quarter, finishing with 6 three’s on the night. Also in the 2nd half it was Jackson Lamb once again coming up big off the bench with rebounds, taking a charge, and getting 2nd chance points for the Eagles. Also coming up big with some aggressive rebounds in the game was Levi Trexler. Late in the fourth quarter with a small lead, Tonagel, Shugart, and Sweet stepped to the line and together hit 6 straight free throws to seal the victory!

Scoring on the night saw Tonagel with his career high 30, Shugart with his career high 18, Lamb with 6, Sweet with 6, Colin Middlesworth with 4, and Ty Fagan with 3. The Eagles have to turn around and play again tomorrow night at Eastern.
