Girls Varsity Basketball beats Pioneer Jr-Sr 58 – 36

The Lady Braves traveled to Pioneer to take on the Lady Panthers. They Lady Braves came into the game wanting to work on getting points in the paint, and did a good job with that scoring 24 points in the paint.

In the 1st quarter, The Lady Braves took a 12-4 lead early but Pioneer did a good job of battling back to close the gap 12-10 by the end of the quarter. The Lady Braves got scoring from 4 different players in the 1st quarter. Addie Maiben and Miranda Stoll each hit a 3-point shot and Bailey Carson had 4 points and Sydney Barnes had 2 points in 1:38 minutes before picking her 2nd foul up and had to sit the rest of the half.

In the 2nd quarter, The Lady Braves scoring came from just two players, Bailey Carson 9 points and Aubrey Kaiser had 3 points in that quarter. They Lady Braves took a 24-19 lead going into half.

At halftime, the Lady Braves talked about adjustments that needed to happen on defense and the team did a great job with the adjustments, holding Pioneer to just 6 points (2 three pointers). On the offensive side of the ball, the Lady Braves got 9 points from Miranda Stoll (all from behind the 3-point line), Sydney Barnes did a great job in the 2nd half after having to sit most of the first half because of fouls. Sydney had 7 points in the quarter and Ireland Kile had a basket. They Lady Braves were able to extend their halftime lead to 42-25 after 3 quarters.

In the 4th quarter, the Lady Braves got scoring from 5 different players, being led by Ireland Kile with 6 points in that quarter. Addie Maiben hit a 3-point shot, Miranda Stoll had 3 points, Sydnet Barnes and Hallie Maiben both had 2 points in that last quarter.

Finishing the game, the Lady Braves had three players in double figure scoring, with Miranda Stoll had 15 points, Bailey Carson had 13 points and Sydney Barnes had 11 points. Ireland Kile had 8 points, Addie Maiben had 6 points, Aubrey Kaiser had 3 points and Hallie Maiben had 2 points.

Other leaders were Ireland Kile led the team in rebounds with 9 rebounds, Bailey Carson had 7 steals and 3 assist and Miranda Stoll led the team with 5 assist.

The Lady Braves had 19 assists on 23 of their field goals made in the game. That is a season high with 9 different players with at least 1 assist.

The (9-8) Lady Braves next game is this Saturday, January 13 against Taylor at Maconaquah for a varsity only game starting at 1:30 pm.

Boys Varsity Swimming beats Logansport 126 – 60

What a great meet tha boys had last night. They had 32 best times/scores which is the most all season. Many of the guys had season best times. They are looking great and strong heading into the conference meet next weekend. Janis Groeber dropped .5 in 50 Free and 1 sec in 100 Back. Isaiah Moore has improved so much in a short time. He dropped .3 in 50 Free, 2.2 in 100 Free, and another .3 in 400 Relay. Luke Abbott dropped .9 in 50 fly. P.J. Higgins broke 25 sec in 50 Free in the Medley Relay and dropped .06 in open 50 free. Garrett McManus dropped 1.2 in 100 Free. Cole Nye had a great night. He dropped .12 in 50 Breast, 4.1 in 200 IM, and was within .14 of his best in the 100 Breast. Ryley Rodkey dropped .09 in 50 Fly, .26 in 50 Free, and 3 sec in 100 Breast. Camron Metcalf improved his dive score by 1.35 points. Drake Samuel had two great races against the logan swimmers. He dropped 3.9 in 200 Free and 3.1 in 500 Free. He also dropped 2.4 in 100 Free almost getting under a minute. Zach Duke had an amazing 1st time swim in the 200 IM, broke a minute in the 100 Free twice dropping .7 sec, and dropped .4 in the 50 Free part of 200 Free Relay. Joel Loshnowsky dropped .3 in 50 Free. Aiden Ousley was 4/4 bests. He dropped .3 in 50 Back, 5.2 in 100 Fly, .07 in 100 Back, and .6 in 100 Free. The Golden Goggle Award goes to Colton Beebe. Colton has come a long way since middle school. He has been working harder in practice and gaining a lot of confidence in himself and his abilities. Colton was 4/4 best times last night. He dropped 1 sec in 50 Breast, 2.5 sec in 200 IM, 2.2 sec in 100 Fly, and .12 in 100 Free part of 400 Relay. We are home again on Thursday against Pioneer. The line up will look different as I want to see what some of the guys can do in some different events.

Girls Varsity Swimming beats Rochester 146 – 36

Our first meet back from Christmas Break was amazing! The 200 medley relay team (Loshnowsky, Duke, Winegardner, Laber placed first with A. Jordan, Schoettmer, Collins, and Rodkey coming in second. Chloe Jordan and Marissa Burnett placed 1 and 2 followed by a 1,2,3 finish in the IM by Winegarnder, Schoettmer, and Gallango. In the 50 freestyle it was another 1,2,3 finish from Laber, Abby Jordan, and Brennan. Diving was more of the same from Rodkey, McClain, and Lorenz. The 100 fly was impressive as Loshnowsky, Abby Jordan, and Colins placed 1,2,3. Laber, Duke, and Brennan also placed 1,2,3 in the 100 freestyle. Chloe Jordan and Marissa Burnett placed 1 and 2 in the 500 with a nice PR from Jordan. Winegardner, Duke, Abby Jordan, and Chloe Jordan placed 1st in the 200 free relay with Brennan, Lorenz, Burnett, and Rodkey coming in 3rd. Loshnowsky and Collins came in 1 and 2 inthe backstroke with Gallango in 4th. The 100 Breaststroke with more of the same with Duke, Winegardner, and Schoettmer in 1,2,3. The final relay had Laber, Loshnowsky, Collins and Chloe Jordan placing 1st and Brennan, Gallango, Burnett, and Schoettmer in 2nd.

The Golden Goggle went to Viala Seymoure. Viala has been swimming a couple years now and has improved so much. This year she has been swimming the 200 free and the 500 free. She dropped 11 seconds in the 200 free and 14 seconds in the 500 free. She also a a second drop in the her leg of the 200 free relay.
