Boys Varsity Basketball beats Alexandria 71 – 45

The Varsity Boys Basketball Team defeated conference rival Alexandria tonight in dominating fashion 71-45. The offense was rolling for the Golden Eagles as they scored 71 points breaking the 70 threshold for the first time this season. After the first half the Golden Eagles had a 15 point lead but didn’t stop there, coming out and pouring it on in the third quarter winning that quarter 22–9. The Eagles then coasted the rest of the way finishing off Alexandria 71-45. The high scoring game showed a very balanced score book as for different players got into double digits and many more contributed as well. Leading in scoring tonight was RJ Shugart with 14 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds. Ty Fagan had 12 points three assists and six rebounds, next was Levi Trexler with 11 points and four assists and Jace Tonagel just missed a double double getting 10 points and nine assists for the game. The other starter, Trenton Sweet, just missed joining the double digit party scoring nine points on the night. Coming off the bench both Jackson Lamb and Collin Middlesworth had six points, and Landon Cruzan had three points to round out the scoring. The Golden Eagles now get a week off as they will travel to Madison Grant next Friday followed by a game at home with an outstanding Lapel team.
