Boys Varsity Basketball beats Lewis Cass Jr-Sr 81 – 59

The Braves won in front of a great crowd at home, over Cass to improve to 10-3 overall, and 4-1 in the TRC.

Coach Burrus Quotes: “The start of this game really helped us control the rest of the game. Our kids are really feeding off each other. I also feel the players are all finding roles on the team. The first quarter was really fun to watch. Everyone contributed to the start. A run takes two things. Good offense AND good defense. We tried early in the game to establish a quick pace to the quarter. Cass has been really good recently in half court type games. One of our main focuses for the game was to turn the game into a high posession game.

I really thought Zeiser played a great game. He was very active on defense and made some nice moves around the basket. He also scored 7 points in the first quarter. MJ Ellis gave really good minutes in the middle. He scored 7 points off the bench. AJ made a lot happen on defense out front. Him and Oakley Reeser, Fuddy Kile really put on good pressure the whole night. All of our team really worked hard on defense. It paid off. AJ still was able to score 16 points. His all around play has been phenominal this year. AJ has no weakness in basketball. He is fearless and makes our team go. AJ gets everything out of his ability. He plays very hard. And all the time!

The team did great helping Josiah Ball get some offense. Ball had 29 but the rest of the team really moved to help him score. Ball made some tough moves to score but got some good ball screens. We have one play where 3 guys screen at different times for Ball. That is team play. Ball hit the baseline shot off the 3 screens last night.

We have a big game tonight vs Brownsburg. They are a big 4A power in Indiana. It will be a big challenge. Our team is excited to make the trip. The game will be on 105.9. We appreciate all the support you have brought to the gym. Our team loves to play at home. We know our crowd, students will be right behind us. Last night was great. Thanks for being part of it.”
