The Southwood junior high boys basketball teams won a pair of games over Lewis Cass Tuesday.

In a thrilling matchup last evening, the Southwood High School 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team displayed an outstanding performance against Lewis Cass. The game kicked off with an impressive first quarter, where Southwood dominated with a score of 11 to 3. Bray Bassett set the tone early by sinking a three-pointer, while Dylan Hurst and Cade Pershing contributed multiple baskets, ensuring a solid lead.

As the action unfolded, Cade Pershing continued to shine in the second quarter, nailing a significant 3-point shot and adding 5 more points to the scoreboard. The halftime score stood at 24-9 in favor of Southwood. The third quarter posed a challenge for the Knights, who only managed to score 4 points but were able to pull away in the fourth quarter. Cade Pershing was the standout player in the final stretch, racking up 6 points in the fourth, securing a well-deserved victory for Southwood with a final score of 39-16.

Southwood’s 8th-grade basketball team secured a thrilling 33-26 victory against Lewis Cass, with standout performances from key players.

Kaiden Valdez led the charge with 15 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals. Dylan Cochran contributed 9 points, 4 steals, and 2 rebounds, while Camden Wyatt showcased versatility with 6 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assist.

Eli Shellhammer added 2 points along with 5 steals, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist. Blake Enyeart, 3 rebounds and 1 steal, and Blake Henderson, 2 steals and 1 rebound made vital defensive contributions.

Chellis, Hawkins and Chambers each added a rebound.
