Results from Peru for Friday, March 1st

Tigers use 29-2 run to cruise past Oak Hill into Sectional Championship game.

Peru traveled back to Mississinewa High School for the semifinal round of the 2024 edition of Sectional 23. They faced off against Oak Hill, looking for revenge from an earlier season loss.

The Golden Eagles coming off a huge upset win over Maconaquah on Wednesday night, started the game off hot making 3 3-pointers building an early 8-point lead before Peru was able to close the gap to only trail by 3 after 1.

Peru was able to grab a lead early in the 2nd quarter before Oak Hill went on a quick run to jump back up by 9. Peru then clamped down on defense and started a 29-2 run that would span both sides of halftime. Peru entered the break leading by 1 35-34.

Peru continued the streak in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Eagles 20-7 to take a commanding into the final stanza.

Peru was able to build the lead to 20 points in the 4th quarter and kept pace to keep the game comfortably out of reach.

The win moves the Tigers to 14-10(5-4 TRC) on the season. They are back in action Saturday at 7:30 pm facing the host Mississinewa Indians for the Sectional Championship.
