On Saturday, the Huntington North Lady Vikings Track and Field Team held their Viking Relays for the second time at their new stadium. They finished 4th out of 6 teams with a score of 82, narrowly defeating Merriville by 2 points (Carroll 1st—151, Homestead 2nd—148.5, FW Northrop 3rd—117.5).
Top finishers for the Lady Vikings were:
1st—4x800m Relay (Ella Colclesser, Gracie Fields, Elle McDonald, and Alice Friesen)
1st—4x400m Relay (Ella Colclesser, Mya Plemons, Alice Friesen, and Gracie Fields)
5th—Maeve Wilkinson, Pole Vault (9’0”)
1st—Alice Friesen, 1600m Run
2nd—Ella Colclesser, 1600m Run
1st—Annika Carpenter, Discus
5th—Abby Grube, Discus
4th—Annika Carpenter, Shot Put
Coach’s Comments: “The girls did a really nice job today and we a continuing to learn some things about this team as we head into Conference on Friday. At Lime City, we were able to get many of the girls to participate in the meet, but the entire team was involved in some way, shape, or form to help the meet run smoothly. The “come from behind” win in the 4x400m Relay, which was the last race, was a very nice way to end the last Lime City Relay for 3 seniors (Gracie Fields, Ella Colclesser, and Mya Plemons). Also, senior Maeve Wilkinson clearing 9’0 in the Pole Vault; Junior Annika Carpenter throwing 113 feet and winning the discuss; 4×800 team (Alice Friesen, Elle McDonald, Ella Colclesser, and Gracie Fields) winning the relay; and Alice Friesen and Ella Colclesser going 1,2 in the 1600 helped complete the great team effort at Lime City.”

The Vikings hosted NE8 Conference foe Columbia City and were defeated by the Eagles by the score of 5-1.
