Stout/Kugler Headed To State Finals

Out of the 11 events Apache athletes competed in during Thursday’s regional track meet at Carroll High School, 4 of those events will be represented at the state finals next week.

Spencer Stout automatically qualified for the state finals in the 110 meter hurdles with a 2nd place finish and added another 2nd place finish in the 300 hurdles. This marks Spencers 3rd consecutive year advancing to the state finals. Coleson Kugler hit the time standard in the 100 and 200 meter dashes advancing to the state finals for the first time in his career. His time of 10.90 in the 100 meter dash and 21.89 in the 200 meter dash are both new school records breaking the previous records he set just last week.

The 4×800 relay of Jonas Church, Drew Guenin-Hodson, Chase Howard and Ezra Church finished 9th with a season’s best time of 8:18.05.

Isaac Byers finished 7th in the discus with a new lifetime best throw of 143′ 9″. In the shot put he finished 12th.

Jonas Church finished 8th in the 800 securing a point for the team.

In the 1600 Ezra Church finished 15th

In the 3200 Isaiah Cordes finished 11th and Kaden Vogel 12th.

The 4×400 relay of Spencer Stout, Brett Shull, Drew Guenin-Hodson, and Coleson Kugler finished 15th.

In all the Apaches finished in 8th place out of 34 scoring teams – the highest placing in decades, beating large schools like Snider High School and Carroll High School in the process. Homestead won the meet with a score of 72.

The young Squire Men’s track team was outstanding at the Goshen regionals Thursday night with 4 events setting personal records and 3 events scoring.

Carson Heath scored in both of his events. Heath was 4th in the 110 hurdles with a PR time of 15.16 and 5th in the high jump at 6’3.

Team mate Eli Metzger had an excellent night setting personal records in both of his events. He finished 12th in the 110 hurdles with a 16.07 and came out of the slow heat ing the 300 m hurdles to place 5th with a great PR time of 40.6.

The 4×800 team of Kyler Dale, Oliver Fitzpatrick, Clark Showalter, and Simon Van placed 12th with a PR time of 8:28.26. All 4 Squires ran 2:10 or below.

The 4×400 squad of Metzger, Dale, Showalter, and Heath ran a 3:35.72 and also placed 12th.

Carter Wagoner finished 16th in the long jump at 19’3 and 18th in the high jump at 5’8.
