The Wabash Boys Soccer team suffered a heavy loss to start the season against Mississinewa 8-0 Thursday.

The game was punctuated by periods of great play by the Apaches interspersed with scoring runs by Mississinewa.

Wabash had its best scoring opportunity of the first half when a Kolton Wilson throw-in generated a scoring chance for Jacob France that was ultimately saved. Mississinewa responded with a long-range shot score that became a theme for the night. Nearly every score for the Indians came as a result of a shot from distance. The teams entered the half with the score 0-3.

in the second half Wabash did a much better job possessing in the middle third with Wilson, Devin Coffman and Sol France establishing a good passing rhythm. Mississinewa continued firing from distance scoring 2 more in the first 10 minutes of the half. Coffman and Jacob France managed to get a few more good looks at goal but none were able to get past the keeper. The score at the end was 0-8.

Coffman had two shots to go with Jacob France’s six to lead the Apache attack. Max Carpenter managed a non-goalie save later in the game.

The Wabash Boys return to action on Saturday as they open TRC play away against Maconaquah at noon.
