Stout/Haecker Headed To State Finals

Wabash Apache Spencer Stout is headed to the state finals in the 300 hurdles, while Manchester Kolby Haecker advanced in the high jump.

Wabash competed in 6 events at the regional track meet Thursday evening. The 4×800 relay of Kaden Vogel, Jonas Church, Chase Howard, and Dave Ford finished 8th. Coleson Kugler finished 12th in the 100. Kaden Vogel finished 12th in the 3200 in a new personal record time of 10:01.98. The 4×400 relay team of Drew Guenin-Hodson, Troy Guenin-Hodson, Coleson Kugler, and Spencer Stout finished 14th. Spencer Stout finished 5th in the 110 hurdles in a new personal best time of 14.93. In the 300 hurdles he finished 3rd and advanced to the state finals next week at IU.

The Squires had a great night at the Regional meet at Warsaw posting many personal records. Kolby Haecker led the charge by jumping 6’8 and placing 2nd to earn a shot at the state title. He is tied for 3rd seed next Friday at Bloomington.

Freshman Carson Heath went from 14th seed to 6th with a PR time of 15.7 in the 110 hurdles.

Raven King picked up an 8th place in the 3200 breaking 10 minutes with a PR of 9:59.87. Teammate Kyler Dale also ran a PR of 10:10.39 with a 13th place finish.

Jordan Ayres placed 6th in discus with a 140’10” toss.

The 4×400 team of Eli Metzger, Memphis Wood, Tyler McLain, and Liam York won their heat and placed 8th with a PR time of 3:34.21

The 4×100 team of Trevor Heath, Wood, Thomas Rodriguez, and McLain was 13th in 45.01

The 4×800 placed 13th with a Pr time of 8:37.82. Team members King, Dale, York, Clark Showalter.

Thursday night, the Knights trekked to Carroll High School for the Regional Championship competition. Casey Boardman was slotted to compete in the 400M Dash, while Zeb Herring, Weston Greiner, Cole Winer, and Boardman were scheduled to close out the evening in the 4x400M Relay.

After winning the Sectionals, Casey Boardman finished 9th overall in a time of 52.37.

The 4x400M Relay team was seeded 11th overall heading into the final race of the evening. Lined up against New Haven, Carroll, Homestead, South Side, and Garrett, the Knights found themselves in a David vs. Goliath scenario. In a fight to the finish in the first section of the 4×4, The Knights crossed the line simultaneously with Homestead where the clock separated the 2 teams to the thousandth to determine the results. With South Side winning the heat, Homestead pulled out 2nd place with a 3:32.504 to Southwood’s 3:32.509 in a photo finish. The Knights finished 9th overall in a field of 16 teams.
