Championship Game!!

What a game is was, probably the Best American League game in many years!
In the end, it was the Wabash Welding Services Braves defeating the Alan Zimmerman Law Office Pirates 7-6.

The Braves picked up a tough back-and-forth game against the Pirates 7-6 to win the American league Championship Saturday. Leland Wesley pitched well, striking out 10 in the win. Clayton Taylor came in and pitched well in relief, striking out 2 to pick up his first win of the season. The Braves trailed 6-5 going into the bottom of the 6th and tied the game when Brooklyn Laferny scored on a pass ball. With the bases loaded, Eli Ogden came up with 2 outs and hit a rocket to the fence for a walk off win for the Braves. Reece Ritter led the offense of attack going 2-2 with 2 triples. Luke Smith also had himself a day at the plate going 2-2 with a double and 2 RBI. Kyler Clark had double as well. The Braves finished the season 17-1

When Martene and Alvero played their last game for the American League Pirates, the coaching staff promised they would mail them tournament trophies in addition to the Division trophies they had already received. It was looking like that would be a difficult promise to fulfill as the Braves put the American League River Pirates in the losers bracket with a loss. The Pirates however won their way through the losers bracket and found themselves back in the Championship game. The Pirates went up 2-0 courtesy of Belly Poe’s triple. That lead held up to the third inning, when the Braves scored a run and cut the lead to one run. The Braves rallied in the fifth inning and now the Pirates were down 5-3. In the top of the final inning and with the game on the line, Clutch Holley hit a rope to left center field scoring two runs to put the Pirates back in the lead 6-5. The Braves were the home team, however, and rallied to score two runs and win the tournament 7-6. Dexter “complete game” Freeman got the game ball for throwing 90 pitches and for keeping the Braves powerful offense in check all afternoon. Following the game on Facebook was Martene and Alvaro Camaras in a chalet just south of Madrid, Spain and clearing space in their bedroom for another trophy to remember all of their friend and teammates they had to leave behind in America.

That’s a wrap on the American League season!
