Big Offense Guides Spartans to Victory at MSJ
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Manchester University baseball team ended its four-game skid in a big way on Friday afternoon. The Spartans totaled 24 runs on 24 hits en route to a 24-7 victory in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action against Mount St. Joseph. The second game of Friday’s doubleheader was canceled due to the inclement weather in the region.

Manchester U Drops DH
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University baseball team dropped a pair of home contests to visiting Defiance College as Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play continued on Tuesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets won by final scores of 14-7 and 7-3 at Gratz Field.

Spartans Topped by St. Mary’s on Tuesday
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The St. Mary’s (Ind.) Belles slowed the Manchester University offense on Tuesday afternoon en route to a doubleheader sweep of the Spartans. Manchester was limited to two runs across a pair of contests.
Game 1 – St. Mary’s 3, Manchester 1 – Box Score
St. Mary’s was able to scatter eight Manchester hits and limited the Spartans to one run in the opening game of Tuesday’s doubleheader. Manchester fell by a narrow 3-1 decision.
Kendal Torrence (Lowell, Ind. / Lowell) and Corey Uetrecht (Leo, Ind. / Leo) had two hits apiece for Manchester. Torrence doubled twice and Uetrecht drove in the lone run of the ball game in the top of the 4th inning.
Game 2 – St. Mary’s 3, Manchester 1 – Box Score
The Belles took the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader by an identical 3-1 final score.
Manchester got on the scoreboard first after tallying a run in the top of the 3rd inning. Miranda Boggs (Frankfurt, Ind. / Frankfurt) drove in the only Spartan run.
Alexis Mokos (Cedar Lake, Ind. / Hanover Central) went 2-3 at the plate.
The Spartans moved to 5-7 on the season. St. Mary’s improved to 3-12. Manchester will play their 2019 Home Opener on Friday March 29 against Hope College. Friday’s doubleheader will begin at 3:30 p.m.

CLERMONT, Fla.- The Manchester University softball team concluded its spring trip this morning with games against Thomas (ME) and Allegheny. The Spartans dropped a close 4-3 decision to the Terriers but rallied for 6-5 win in extra innings against the Gators. MU will return to the Hoosier State with a 5-5 record. -
Softball Opens 2019 Campaign on Monday
CLERMONT, Fla. – The Manchester University softball team opened the 2019 season with its annual Spring Break trip. The Spartans played two games on Monday March 18, facing off against Bethel (Minn.) University and Macalester. The Spartans fell in game one today but rebounded this afternoon to earn their first win of the season.

Tigers Defeat Spartans in Indy
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Manchester University baseball team dropped a 9-6 non-conference contest to DePauw University. Saturday’s game was played at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis. The second game scheduled for today was canceled due to the cold temperatures and incoming rain.

Jordan Napier Battles his way to Nationals
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Junior 141-pounder Jordan Napier (Indianapolis, Ind. / Perry Meridian) continued to shine this weekend, adding a second-place finish at the NCAA Central Region Championships to his 2018-19 resume. Napier helped the Spartans to a ninth-place overall finish on Saturday afternoon and punched himself a ticket to the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships.

Spearman and Poole Named All-Conference
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Freshman diver Jordan Spearman (Indianapolis, Ind. / Mt. Vernon) and junior Christain Poole (Anderson, Ind. / Anderson) both earned All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors on Wednesday afternoon.
Spearman earned First Team All-HCAC honors after his record breaking performances in the 1 and 3-meter diving events at the 2019 HCAC Swimming & Diving Championships. Jordan was the HCAC Champion in the 3-meter dive with a top score of 441.25. Spearman also found his way on the podium in the 1-meter dive, placing third, with an overall score of 487.45. Both marks set new school records and both marks qualified Jordan for the NCAA Regionals.
Junior Christain Poole earned Honorable Mention All-HCAC honors on Wednesday afternoon. Poole finished third in the men’s 50-freestyle with a final time of 21.56. Poole’s mark on the first night of the HCAC Championships broke his own school record, set earlier in the day during the morning prelim session. On Saturday, Poole broke the school record in the men’s 100-freestyle with a time of 48.97.
Kyle Erwin (Attica, Ind. Attica) was named to the Christopher M. Ragsdale All-Sportsmanship Team. On the women’s side, Mikki Goetz (Highland, Ind. / Highland) was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Manchester University was well represented on the all-HCAC Indoor Track and Field teams that were announced this afternoon. 12 different Manchester Spartans garnered all-league honors after their strong performances this past weekend at the 2019 HCAC Indoor Championships.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Manchester University women’s indoor track and field team earned a top three finish on Saturday evening at the 2019 Heartland collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Manchester men placed fourth at Saturday’s championships hosted at Defiance College.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Manchester University swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition at the 2019 HCAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The three-day event, held at the Vigo County Aquatics Center and hosted by Rose-Hulman, concluded on Saturday night.

Spartan Basketball At Rose Hulman
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Manchester University Spartans concluded the 2018-19 campaign with a road contest at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Spartans hung around in the first half, but a second half surge by Rose-Hulman secured the victory for the host Engineers. MU fell by a final score of 71-41.
