Apaches Win First Sectional Since 1967 In Thriller Over Manchester
The Wabash and Manchester basketball teams hooked up in a Hoosier Hysteria classic Saturday at Oak Hill that wasn’t decided until the last shot at the buzzer failed. The Apaches would prevail, winning their first sectional championship since 1967, 63-60.

Norse Set Three Record In Sectional Championship
The Northfield Norsemen hit 8 three pointers in the sectional championship against Lafayette Central Catholic, setting a new school record for most in a season but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the #3 Knights 64-49 Saturday.

Leading rebounder Nate Drancik scored 20 points and snared five boards to lead the Northfield Norse to a 72-48 win over Frontier Friday, advancing to the sectional championship Saturday.

Jordan Napier Battles his way to Nationals
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Junior 141-pounder Jordan Napier (Indianapolis, Ind. / Perry Meridian) continued to shine this weekend, adding a second-place finish at the NCAA Central Region Championships to his 2018-19 resume. Napier helped the Spartans to a ninth-place overall finish on Saturday afternoon and punched himself a ticket to the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships.

Daughtry Surpasses 1000 As Apaches Clinch TRC
The Wabash Apaches needed a win over Peru to win their first out right conference title since 1946 and wasted no time letting the entire gym know that would become a reality as they defeated the Tigers 66-43 Friday. During the second quarter junior Trenton Daughtry surpassed 1000 points for his career.

Spearman and Poole Named All-Conference
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Freshman diver Jordan Spearman (Indianapolis, Ind. / Mt. Vernon) and junior Christain Poole (Anderson, Ind. / Anderson) both earned All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors on Wednesday afternoon.
Spearman earned First Team All-HCAC honors after his record breaking performances in the 1 and 3-meter diving events at the 2019 HCAC Swimming & Diving Championships. Jordan was the HCAC Champion in the 3-meter dive with a top score of 441.25. Spearman also found his way on the podium in the 1-meter dive, placing third, with an overall score of 487.45. Both marks set new school records and both marks qualified Jordan for the NCAA Regionals.
Junior Christain Poole earned Honorable Mention All-HCAC honors on Wednesday afternoon. Poole finished third in the men’s 50-freestyle with a final time of 21.56. Poole’s mark on the first night of the HCAC Championships broke his own school record, set earlier in the day during the morning prelim session. On Saturday, Poole broke the school record in the men’s 100-freestyle with a time of 48.97.
Kyle Erwin (Attica, Ind. Attica) was named to the Christopher M. Ragsdale All-Sportsmanship Team. On the women’s side, Mikki Goetz (Highland, Ind. / Highland) was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
